I'm looking forward to hosting a conversation with the talented Helen O'Neill at the Brisbane launch of her new biography A Singular Vision: Harry Seidler.
Helen is an internationally published author, well known for her award-winning bestseller Florence Broadhurst - Her Secret and Extraordinary Lives.
I can't wait to hear what Helen has to say about this towering icon of Australian architecture. From an affluent Austrian upbringing, Seidler fled his homeland for England to escape the Nazi threat. During the war he was interned as an enemy alien in Canada, and afterwards studied architecture in the United States.
His parents moved to Australia, and in 1948 Harry followed them, having been asked to design their new home. The Rose Seidler House launched his career in this country, and Seidler's uncompromising modernist buildings went on to change the face of our cities.
If you're in Brisbane, come along to Avid Reader bookstore on Wednesday 20th November from 6:00pm.
